One day in the studio, I invited my fellow artists to collaborate with me in the drawing of a portrait. I pinned multiple photocopies of my initial drawing onto my studio pinboard. I asked my fellow artists to take one and add their own artistic input. What transpired was the making of several new and collaborative artworks. What I loved most about this creative exercise was how an artist’s individual idea could lead to an engaging, collaborative process and outcome. This happens a lot at tbC and is a major reason why artists join the group. It is also a major reason why artists often stay for extended periods – in my case, years. The collaborative energy at tbC is so inspiring. It spurs artists on to make and present artworks they would otherwise have never made.
